Isaiah 12:2-6 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. 3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. 4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. 5 Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.”
God, as loving and kind as He is, He is also great in power.
God is here and He’s going to do something awesome. Receive what He has for you today, the authority of the Holy Ghost.
God has a plan and you are very much a part of it, but you are lacking very much in the authority that He wants to give you in your home and in your job. If you want to receive it, praise and worship Him. Through that, He will change some things.
This portion of Isaiah was hardly ever read. Instead it was sung. During the Passover Feast, at a pool of water used for sacrifices, there was a place to sit and talk, like bleachers. There was a time when Jesus showed up there.
John 7:37-39 “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”
This was Jesus’ response to what the Pharisees were singing. The Pharisees and Sadducees had walls built around their hearts that were hard to penetrate. They didn’t know Who they were singing about.
Isaiah 12:2 “… for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”
It’s possible that Jesus couldn’t take it anymore and “stood and cried, ‘If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.’”
It was with joy that they were able to draw from the Pool of Siloam because this water was pure and ran under ground. The water was fresh and pure and the enemy couldn’t touch it.
Jesus is our supply of living water. You can become a supply for someone else too as you allow Jesus’ Spirit to flow through you.
The water was there, but the walls the Pharisees and Sadducees built around their hearts prevented joy and salvation.
God came to set us free from walls. When He wants to do something, He will find someone to flow through.
The walls have to do with doubt and past experiences. Jesus won’t knock down walls that you put up. You have to tear them down. (He’ll point it out to you and even hand you a powerful sledge hammer, but you’ve got to swing it.)
The Berlin Wall stood for 28 years, over 10,000 days. This wall was not only physical, but symbolic. When the wall finally came down, the freedom was brand new. It was a type of authority that said, ‘You can come and go as you please.’
Isaiah 14:1-7 “For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. 3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, 4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! 5 The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. 6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. 7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.”
God allows bad things, but not without a promise. Remember when sin had a hold on you? The new you is a liberated you, not something you could do for yourself, but something only God could do.
God not only liberates from captivity, but also INTO authority. This is key to what Jesus wants to do in your life.
v7 “The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.”
God wants to not only free you physically, He wants to free your soul. God designed liberation differently than people expected, liberation for your soul and He did it through Jesus.
Isaiah 14:24-27 “The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. 26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. 27 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?”
God is stretching out liberty for YOU! He wants to set you FREE! He wants to give you liberty AND authority, not just here on earth, but in heaven. You are His child, He will bring you into a spiritual place where you will be set free and walk in authority.
Of course, the devil wants to build walls that will keep you from this. If the devil can get you to doubt and add another brick to your wall, you will prevent that Spiritual flow of liberty and authority.
You can’t drink from the Wells of Salvation with doubt. You’ve got to drink deeply, bottom’s up. If you can get it at church, you’ll take it home with you. When you take authority and take it home, you’ll experience protection and victory and liberty to set the captives free. Your world needs this.
God wants captivity captive. He doesn’t want to just set people free, He wants you to turn around and take authority and allow God to set other people free.
Eph 4:7-8 “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”
You’ve got to have a relationship with Jesus first in order for this to happen in your life.
‘He led captivity captive.’ There is another wall that the devil can’t come through. Satan is bound by our authority.
Eph 4:24 “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
The new man will block the devil’s tricks and remove the cataracts of sin from somebody else’s eyes.
The normal Christian faction of drawing from the wells of Salvation is going to church, believing in Jesus, being saved, having a relationship with Him. In order to REALLY draw water, it must be in the face of the enemy who is trying to rob you. ‘With joy,’ when you don’t feel like it or it doesn’t make sense, worship God, with JOY, there is something happening in the spirit world that you can’t see. The devil is blinded and bound.
Get your emotions involved, bless the Lord from the bottom of your spirit and draw that water into your soul and your home and your work. Let it start with your voice and your hands and your worship.
Rev 18:1-2, 19-21 “And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. 2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. 19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. 20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. 21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.”
The devil has been stripped of his power. You have been given authority and you receive it through rejoicing and worship and praise. This has nothing to do with your situation, it’s got everything to do with what’s in your soul, with your relationship with Him and your standing with Him and the authority that is in Him.
1 Pet 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
Why do you hope? Why do you hold onto things that no-one else thinks is valuable? It’s all about what you have in and with Jesus.
We have hope because of Who Jesus is to us and what He has done. Be ready to give an answer and share this hope with your world. This is your authority in Him, because of Him.
