The Law of the Increase

Camille_Pissarro_-_The_HarvestGal 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

The Law of the Harvest, Reaping and Sowing, Increase—Spiritually and Naturally, the natural actually mimics the Spirit. All of us want to be disciples of Jesus, but we need to know how.

There is a law of increase or harvest. If you can apply the natural ways of agriculture, there is a concept that’s easy to grasp. The basics of sowing and reaping can be applied to the spirit and discipleship. You have to understand that you won’t get anywhere with God if you don’t give something. You won’t receive if you give nothing.

Have you ever been on a farm? Have you ever grown anything? Why do you think Jesus uses the idea of the harvest to explain Spiritual things?

John 12:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

Hosea 10:12 “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”

Something has to break in order for you to be a disciple. You can’t be a Christian without discipline. If you want to be a disciple, you must know what’s in the Word of God, if you’re going to be a Christian, you must be disciplined in the ways and teaching of the Bible.

If something applies to your life spiritually, how will you focus in order to receive the increase? What disciplines do you need to add to your life in order to become more like Jesus?

We need upgrades, but it takes more than ‘belief.’ What does it take to have the anointing? Are you willing to suffer? We want the crown, but not the cross. There is a law of reaping and sowing.

Job 4:8 “Even as I have seen, Those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.”

If you want to receive great things, you have to give great things.

Prov 9:10-11 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you.”

Discipleship flows from wisdom of a prophetic nature. Wisdom of a prophetic nature causes discipline to happen in your life. Wisdom of a prophetic nature activates a desire to exercise discipline in certain areas of your life.

If you want to get an ‘A’ in a certain class, you must discipline yourself in a certain way.

James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

You can’t just ‘blab it and grab it!’ Now, in the power of your mouth, God can do miracles, but if you sow it, you don’t have to say a word. You don’t have to tell people that you’re holy, you can walk in it and it becomes obvious to everyone around you.

Prov 13:11 “Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase.”

What do you want to happen in your life this year? What will you sow for God to increase this year?

If you sow kindness, you will reap peace and joy. If you sow fasting and prayer, you will reap a devil-casting-out mind. If you do the least that you can do, God will do the least He can do.

You can’t horde something and assume you will increase in that. It doesn’t work that way. The Law of the Harvest is a Spiritual paradox. It doesn’t make sense to give and know that you will receive, but it’s the way God works.

Jacob was a man of God. He lied to his father. Then, his own sons lied to him and broke his heart. David sowed sin in his kingdom (he committed adultery). Because of David’s sin, there was never a time of peace during his reign. He had trouble in his own house, his own son rebelled and another child died.

But, you say, ‘I’ve repented of all that.’ What can you do to avoid and reverse this?

A paradox is a seemingly absurd contradictory statement that will prove to be well-founded and true. It doesn’t sound right, but it works. If you want to be exalted, you have to humble yourself. You can’t be forgiven until you repent. If you want new life, then you must die and lose everything. Transformation in the Spirit doesn’t come from logic, it comes from discipline in God’s laws and ways.

To activate this law of transformation and increase, you must first apply discipline that comes from wisdom. Discipline in the right areas so that God can give the increase.

How does something grow when it gets cut back? It’s just the way God works. You can learn from the natural. How does someone become strong in the Lord? Through weakness, ‘His strength is made perfect in weakness.’

If you want to be His disciple, deny yourself.

Mat 16:24 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.’”

What things or ways do you need to deny yourself?

Soil that’s good receives seed and then produces some 30, some 60, and some 100-fold. If the seed that God has put inside of you is to be 100-fold, this year, 100-fold is possible.

Lev 19:23-25 “When you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as uncircumcised. Three years it shall be as uncircumcised to you. It shall not be eaten. 24 But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to the Lord. 25 And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the Lord your God.”

There is a number thing in that passage, but we’re focusing on the Law of Increase for now. The first fruit shall always be consecrated to God. This time, it’s modified, it’s the fourth year that’s consecrated.

Will you be self-disciplined? Will you eat fruit that God doesn’t want you to because you want to fill your belly? Lack of self-discipline will abort a process God wants for you.

If a tree is harvested too soon, it will kill the tree. God wants you to sustain. It’s time to discipline in an area of increase. Your worship now will be more fruitful than ever before. You have to wait for God’s timing! You will get stickability, but you must sow.
