Gal 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Rom 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
What does it mean to ‘walk in the Spirit?’ What will happen when you are that person?
When you ‘become that person,’ The Lord works with us, with signs following.
Mark 16:17-20 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
There is a distinction between being given new life (born again), and walking in the Spirit (continuing in the Spirit). You become the sons of God. AND you act like it. (Sons and daughters, but I like sons, sons got the inheritance, so you are someone who inherits something.)
When you act like a son or daughter of God, you are letting that river flow, that river that touches others, nourishes them so they can bear fruit and bring healing to the nations through their leaves, you become that person that people feel the Lord around. When you don’t, you act like a child of this world. (When you don’t “continue” in the Spirit, but in your own thoughts, and your own ways.)
Ez 47:11 miry places and marshes, (swamps, and places where water collects but doesn’t drain).
What are the things in your life, the thoughts that fester, that plague you, that remain, that get worse and worse, thoughts of how people treated you unfairly, the hurt, the drama, the poor me, the world is against me, things are out of control, the places that you don’t trust God?
What areas of your life lack faith? That God doesn’t control? Miracles won’t follow you in there.
There are 2 kinds of people. People who you feel God around, and people who you don’t. God is calling everyone into the first category.
Parable of the Sower (Matt 13) gives great examples. (Good soil, people you feel God around. God flows through them and they feed others 100 times over. The rest, wayside, stony, and weed-choked, something stops the flow).
- Good soil: People who you feel God around. They have the river flowing constantly and consistently in their lives. That’s what I am asking you to become. (good soil, bearing fruit 100 fold, Matt 13)
- Stony, weed choked, wayside. If you are this kind, you all have the seed. But it fails to take root, or the roots are shallow and when something doesn’t go your way, (some hardship comes), you wither. Or you grow and the cares of this world choke you from growing. One way or the other, you are not bearing fruit, you are not affecting people the way the Lord wants you to, people don’t feel God when they are around you.
Which kind of soil are you?
It is possible you have the flow of the Spirit, but it is not consistent. When you are squeezed in life, sometimes the ugly, the rotten marshy water, stagnant, yuck comes out. You need to let the river flow every day, in the valley, and bear fruit and grow leaves and affect others around you supernaturally. You have a tendency to bounce back and forth from mountain top to valley to mountain top, when your faith is high, the gifts and anointing flow, but when situations get tough, the drama comes out of you. You need to learn to walk with Him and have peace in every situation.
Mark 4:35-41 “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
Are you like Jesus, asleep in the boat (a person who has the river constantly and consistently flowing)? Or are you like one of the disciples, (Don’t you care about me? I’m going to die!)?
Your ability to make and keep friends is just like this. Many people make friends, but don’t keep friends. Or those friendship stagnate, stalemate, people bump heads, and they can’t resolve things in a way that is best for everyone. Ever bump heads with God? Or how about someone in the Body of Christ? You hanging on to your rights will keep the Spirit from flowing out of you to bless others. What do people feel around you? The Spirit working in you? Or Agitation? Drama? Negativity? Defensiveness?
1 Cor 12:7 Gifts are for the building up of the Body.
Again, the operation of the Spirit is not for you. It is for them.
Luk 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
This anointing is not for you, it is to affect others around you.
Acts 2:42-47 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
- Continued. Signs followed them after they continued.
Are you continuing? OR does something weigh you down? Stop you in your tracks?
Some of us need to let the Lord pull some stones or trim back some thorns. Lay somethings at the altar. And be the people that others feel God around. And all of us need to commit to tomorrow, in every new situation, to let that river of living water flow, and see Him work with us, signs and wonders following.
