Part of the 90%

nintey-706879_1280Psalm 133:1-2 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;”

We hear a lot of sermons about the anointing and how it flows down. It is true that the head is important.

Joseph was talking to his father and his brothers when they were coming into Egypt. He told them to tell Pharaoh that they herd cattle. Joseph wanted Pharaoh to know they were shepherds, an abomination to the Egyptians. The reason was he wanted them to draw a solid line. God blessed Egypt in order to save Israel. The entire wealth of Egypt went into the building of the Tabernacle.

There is a little bit of Egypt in all of us. The goats (versus sheep) want to be fed, but not led. The head needs to be submitted to. We love and respect our pastor. Jesus is our true head, but our Pastor acts in His place, leading us.

The anointing flows down. It isn’t just for the pastor. It is like precious ointment that runs down. The anointing is for the people—the body.

The head on a skinny person is roughly 10% of the body. If the body isn’t really skinny, it might be a lesser percentage. In a Biblical sense, this is a good thing. A bigger body is able to do more work.

Isaiah 58:11 “And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”

The body does the work, the sowing, the reaping, the reaching, the loving. We have a healthy body.

The body has a covering on it. The garments are a covering of holiness, a literal separation that keeps the body protected from the rest of the world. The Tabernacle is symbolic of the body. You and I are the Holy of Holies.

1 Cor 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

1 Cor 6:19 “What? know ye not that your body is the Temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The outer layer of the Tabernacle was badger skin. These creatures needed a thick, protective covering from the elements. The Tabernacle needed the same thing. That’s what holiness is to us—a thick, protective covering.

1 Cor 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

God gave a promise to Abraham in Genesis 12. Wherever he walked, the land was given to him.

God protects His people if we choose holiness. You have Jesus on the inside, bearing the fruit. The Ark of the Covenant is symbolic of who we are in Him. The presence of God doesn’t need protection. It’s what houses that Presence.

Ezekiel 16 seems to suggest that in the wilderness their shoes didn’t wear out. Those shoes were  also made out of badger skins, the same protection, abrasion-resistant material that went on the outside of the Tabernacle.

Joshua 14:9 “And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.”

The promise wasn’t just for Moses, it was for the 90%. THY feet! This promise is for you and for your children and for all that are afar off. The anointing is on you, the power is on you, the promise is on you, the miraculous is on you and your lives.

The badger skins say that even the promises have a protection. You have double and triple protection. You are walking under the covering and protection of Jesus.

The Bible mentions that the Spirit of God inhabits both a Tabernacle and a Temple. A Tabernacle is a portable tent in the wilderness. The Temple is a permanent building.

A woman’s hair symbolizes the two angels on the Ark of the Covenant.

1 Cor 11:10 “For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.”

Wherever the Tabernacle went, the Spirit of God went.

On the Day of Pentecost, Jesus’ disciple, Peter, in the 10%, preached to the 90%.

Acts 2:39 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

The Temple is a permanent housing for the Spirit of God. Where He resides, He will never leave, He will never forsake.

Heb 6:6-8 “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

There is a partnership between the pastor, the ministry, and the people.

10% + 90% = 100% God is calling the 100%. Some will be pastors, some will be missionaries, and some will minister in other ways, helping and serving the body and reaching out for others. Everyone has a part.

2 Cor 3:18 “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

That’s who you are. You just need to spend time with your Heavenly Daddy. You have a calling. Spend time with your Heavenly Father. As you spend more time with Him, you will look more like Him.

Acts 2:38-47 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the Temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Even though Elijah was a great prophet, Israel wasn’t saved from God’s judgement. The 10% can’t pull you out. It is the 90% that must get a hold of this. Along with the 10%, the 90% must reach the world.

When the 90% respond to the call of God, the promise is to you—the 90%—your children—the 90%—and to all that are afar off—the 90%, the whole world is changed.

1 Thes 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

Stir up the gift that He has given you! Pray and watch Him do mighty things in your life!

If you become like a child, the Kingdom is at your disposal. Pray like He’s your Daddy. God is our Heavenly Father. When you approach Him, say, ‘I know You can do it, Daddy. You can do anything.’ All you have to do is whisper. He hears. He knows.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

It doesn’t say, ‘If my pastor…’ It says, ‘If my people…’

Humble yourself, pray, seek His face, turn from your wicked ways and He will hear, forgive, and heal.

Don’t praise your problems. Don’t magnify your ‘impossible’ situation. Praise God. Praise above the situation. You will see that He is the Author and Finisher. All things were created by Him and for Him. Be thankful. He is your heavenly Father and Prince of Peace and the King of kings.
