The Day the Devil Told the Truth

hand-749676_1280Ex 1:6-12 “And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation. And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.”

The only limits God has are the ones put there by the church. Within the minds and the understanding of His people are the only limits God has.

There is no putting God in a headlock, but God has set up some principles. ‘If you do this, I [God] will do that.’ He is all powerful, but He can be limited by the way we think.

Israel was held in bondage by the thought that they weren’t something that Pharaoh and the devil knew that they were. The Israelites were stronger and could totally take over. So, Pharaoh set out to deceive them. A Pharaoh who was king of the known world at the time knew that Israel was stronger. This Pharaoh didn’t know Joseph or those he brought to Egypt. He saw the mighty nation that was there. But, don’t tell them that!

The devil told the truth, but there was no one there to hear it. If you could see in yourself what the devil sees, he would be done for!

For 400 years, task masters and bondage plagued Israel, and Israel took it.

This is what kept them (and you!) in bondage:

  1. Negative thinking
  2. Poor self-image
  3. Slave mentality

Fleas jump with great success. They’re amazing little creatures. However, fleas’ habits can change. They can jump higher than the jar, but if they hit the lid, it hurts and they stop jumping as high. They will stop trying to break the barrier. Then, take the lid off the jar and the fleas won’t jump out!

A young elephant can be tied by one chord to a stake in the ground. He can’t break it at the time, but he grows. He becomes stronger and mightier but still doesn’t break that chord. The trainers condition the elephant to believe he can’t get away. He learns his bondage and won’t even attempt to get out.

Paul and Silas were chained and they praised and worshiped. Their chains fell off. The jailer was going to kill himself, but Paul said, ‘Do yourself no harm, we’re all still here.’ What?! The chains were gone and the doors opened! The jailer knew something that the prisoners didn’t understand!

You’ve never been able to conquer that before, what makes you think you can do this now?

The lid is off your jar! That chord on your leg is not strong enough to keep you!

The imprisonment of yesterday has us tormented and crippled. The lies told to you, ‘you’re a wimp’, ‘you’re worthless’, ‘you can’t do it’. The devil KNOWS the opposite is true!

The devil uses lies and fear to bind you! He uses intimidation and causes mental imprisonment. Do you realize you’re that person? You have limitations you put on yourself and on the church and even on God. ‘God can’t do this or that.’ What?!

You are stronger and mightier than you know. If you figure that out, you’ll team up with the devil’s enemy (God), and the devil will be destroyed!

You have power you know not of.

If your talent will take you where your character can’t keep you, the devil is happy.

We think trials and failure are something we have done wrong and we have displeased God.

1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”

Failure is one checkmark off your to-do list for the day. Now, get up and go. You are not dumber than the devil. You have potential you don’t even tap into. Don’t just sit and never take a chance. That’s what Satan wants.

Moses sent 12 men to look at the land, not the enemy. ‘Find out how good God’s blessings are going to be for us!’ These slave mentality men who never got that whip mark off their backs, didn’t see the power of God. But, there were two who knew the lid was off! There are no more barriers!

A bunch of fish can be trained to not go past a barrier. When the barrier is removed, the fish will stay in their areas and not cross the barrier. This will stay until another fish is put in the tank who knows no barrier!

The devil knows this! ‘If they ever figure out who they are, what they can do…’

There were a couple of revelation minded men who saw things different and knew what God could do! “We are well able!”

Believe the truth! God can through you!

2 Cor 10:4-5 “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

It is in your mind!

The ten men who talked trash in the desert died. They wandered for 40 years. Their negative thinking upset God. He was angry.

The two men who said, ‘We are well able,’ at 80 were still well able and got their land. Caleb got his mountain!

Gideon wanted miracles. He was hungry. He was tired of being afraid. There are people who are motivated by external pressure and internal pressure. The difference between a gazelle and a lion is one is motivated by an external pressure. It’s all about self for the gazelle and fear and failure. The lion is motivated by something on the inside. That lion has motivation that gets him to moving and going after that gazelle. He is hungry and hunger moves the lion.

There is hunger in some people, in the church. Let that motivation be in you.

We can reach the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. We can get 100, 200, 500, 700, 1000 people. We are mightier.

The Israelites had a seventy mindset, but they were over a million. But, there was somebody hungry for a move of God.

We can bankrupt the bar, the casino. We can have revival in Chicago.

What is your dream?

Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Nehemiah had a dream. He heard about what had happened to his home. He started fasting and praying. He asked the king for help and he got it. He got everything he needed to go and build a wall around Jerusalem. It wasn’t easy, but they did it. There were enemies to deal with, but they still did it.

We can do it. God is well able!

Nehemiah had to rally the people, but they did it. They had to deal with hard work and opposition, but they did it.

Do it for your wives and children and for our nation. We are God’s people and God is well able! Let’s build the wall!

They held a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other. They did it. God is well able!

Prov 30:28 “The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.”

It doesn’t matter how good the cleaning lady did, the spider still gets in. He doesn’t quit. He doesn’t give up.

Ain’t no rain gonna stop a spider!

1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Winston Churchill said, “We shall never, never surrender.”

Psalms 119:1-2 “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.”

The way we think has a greater impact on our lives than our physical make-up.

If a woman can fly a plane without arms, using only her feet, what can you do with the Holy Ghost?

Without God and limbs, a woman (with no arms) got a pilots’ license and a little ten-year-old boy with only one leg learned to play soccer, baseball, and challenged himself to learn to wrestle.

Hellen Keller lost both her vision and hearing. She wrote, ‘The living word awakened my soul and gave me ears to hear and eyes to see.’ Barriers could be swept away. She learned to read lips and braille. She excelled. She learned to ride a horse and play chess. She met the president. A spider got into the king’s palace! Don’t give up! Never give up!

What’s wrong with the church when God says, ‘Go into the land and possess it!’ The promises of God are ‘Yes and amen’ to the believer.
