Isa 43:16-21 “Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.”
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
God’s way of doing things is not our way. Jesus isn’t just the redeemer. He is a ‘way-making’ God. When there doesn’t seem a way to get out of your situation, you have bought into a slave mentality. But, God wants to stir up ourselves in this truth—He is a Way-Maker!
He made a way through the sea. He brought them into the Promised Land. He made a way where there was no way.
God reminded His people of how before He had made a way. Then, He asked a question. Whenever He asks a question, He is about to reveal something.
God loves those situations where there are no ways out because He will make a way for YOU!
There is a Savior that brought redemption for you and me. He made a way out of the bondage of sin. After God pulls us out of bondage, He gives us a new life. He brings rivers in the desert. He makes us new.
In the desert it’s just a matter of minutes that you can become completely dry. God knowing His people’s needs, He said He would bring rivers of water.
How many people want a whole river of water when they’re thirsty? Usually, it’s just a glass or so. But God gives us not just one river, but rivers, many waters.
When you get hopeless, God will give you rivers in the wilderness. God will remind you that He makes a way where there is no way.
Paul talks about it in Corinthians.
1 Cor 10:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
Isa 35:7-9 “And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:”
Eph 2:18 “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.”
Heb 10:19 “ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,”
Psalms 24:7-10 “ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.”
God provides access. He wants to lift up the gates so you can enter into the city. He wants to give you entrance into hope. Where there is no way, where there is no access, God has pushed the button and the doors are opening.
Now that you have access, will you walk through?
When the Israelites had gotten out of Egypt, they had all seen God’s power. He had poured out curses on the Egyptians. It was a great deliverance.
They were out of Egypt, they were free, but Pharaoh decided he wanted to get his slaves back. So, he went after them. The Lord led them to where there were mountains on either side, a large body of water in front, and Pharaoh’s army behind them.
Moses got on his face and God said, “Go forward.” But, there was no forward, yet God told Moses to stretch out his rod and God would make a way through that large body of water! They walked on dry ground! The water not only separated, the ground was dry enough that the wheels of their wagons didn’t get stuck. When Pharaoh’s army came after them, their wheels got stuck and fell off!
The way we think we should be getting out isn’t the way God makes it happen. Here He is doing a new thing and you won’t receive it.
Peter was in prison and going to have his head cut off the next morning. He was asleep and an angel came along and woke him up! Peter walked out of the prison with no struggle. Everyone was sleeping. Peter wandered outside and felt the fresh air and realized that he had been set free. God had made a way in the wilderness and delivered from bondage.
He went to the prayer meeting and found out people didn’t believe in what they were praying for! They thought he was a ghost.
Hear that your hopeless situation is a set-up and God wants to show Himself the Way-Maker in your life!
Some years later, a group of preachers were in Phillipi. They got in trouble and were thrown in jail. They began to sing and praise the Lord and every prisoner got set free! God made a way.
What if when you think God doesn’t care you start to praise Him? What do you think God will do for you? He is the Way-Maker!
God is a Way-Maker.
There were three men, Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednigo. They were told if they didn’t bow down to another God, they would be thrown into the fire and burned to death. They refused and were brought before the king. They had faith and didn’t care whether God delivered them or not. God was in the fire with them! He is the Way-Maker and made them all fireproof!
He brought His people through water and through fire.
He doesn’t just open a door, He opens an avenue!
Daniel was told to stop praying or he would be thrown to the lions. Babylon was beautiful, but there was slavery and paganism. Men jealous of Daniel talked the king into making a law that commanded people to worship that king. Daniel chose to continue to worship God.
The way they killed people was to not feed the lions for a few days and throw prisoners into their den so they’d eat him. Daniel trusted God to make a way where there was no way!
God only opens the door for those who perceive that He is a Way-Maker.
The hopelessness that you feel is a deceiving feeling and a lie to keep you from seeing that God wants to do a new thing for YOU!
Daniel slept through the night on top of a purring lion. An angel shut their mouths. The king couldn’t sleep for worry. The Lord made a way for Daniel!
The same Lord who made a way for Daniel will make a way for YOU!
There are stories after stories that show God to be a Way-Maker!
Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and He made a way for him.
Bobby Fisher saw a painting called ‘Checkmate’ that depicted the devil on one side smirking and a boy on the other side studying the board desperately. He asked for a chess board and arranged the pieces according to the painting. After studying the board, he shouted, ‘It’s a lie! The king still has another move!’
You can have victory over the devil in your situation, but you’ve got to see it!
Prov 4:18 “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
