Wake Up, Now Is Not the Time to Sleep

Alarm Clock in Hand by FeelartActs 20:7-12 “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.”

Alexander the Great came to visit his soldiers and one of them had fallen asleep. He was woken by the boot of Alexander the Great himself. The soldier awoke and stood quickly terrified he would be beheaded. Alexander the Great asked, ‘What’s your name, soldier?’ He said, ‘Alexander.’ Alexander the Great said, ‘Either change your name or change your character.’

Now, is not the time to fall asleep! Wake up!

Joel 2:1 “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;”

Prov 24:33-34 “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.”

Do you know what time it is in the Spirit? Are you on the windowsill? The higher up you go, there’s more light, but if you fall asleep out the window, you’ll die. Don’t fall asleep in an hour where the Lord is at hand.

Is 56:10 “His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.”

What kind of watchdog are you? Are you lying down, sleeping? Don’t slack on your prayer life. Don’t slack on your Bible. You let things go at work that should bother you. You’re so surrounded by life, that eternal life seems very far away. If you’re too busy to pray, you’re too busy.

Why do thieves work at night? Because it’s safer at night when everybody is asleep! If the thief of our souls strikes it will be while we’re lulled to sleep.

Sleep is healthy and good, but there is a time when you need to stay up. Now, is not the time to sleep. If you stay asleep too long, you’re going to die. Get some coffee in your spirit! The Holy Ghost is preaching to you and you will fall out and die. It will take a miracle to revive you.

Now is the time to turn up the heat and enjoy the long messages from the Lord. Now is the time to increase our time of giving and our time with the Lord. Now is not the time to fall asleep!

Rom 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Now is not the time to lose what God has given you. The Lord’s return is very soon.

A child thinks, ‘Someday soon, I’ll be able to do certain things.’ That’s not so much about age, it’s more about seasons of life. We need to make sure that we don’t get into the habit of ‘If I could only…’ or ‘Someday soon,…’ The time is now to seek after the things of God.

Jesus had already had the Last Supper and called His disciples to pray with Him, but when He needed them most, they fell asleep.

Mark 14:37 “And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?”

Wake up!

I Kings 21:1-3 “And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.”

It wasn’t really their land and God didn’t want them to sell it. Ahab tried to make a deal. If God said no, don’t say yes to the devil. The devil is sneaky and works to distract you. If you’re not alert, he’ll trick you.

Just as it’s important that you stay awake when you’re behind the wheel of a car, it is so important in this hour.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

The story of the Pied Piper is about a man who contracts with a town to get rid of the rats. He plays his music and the rats follow him. The people try to renege on the rats. He warned the town. One night he played his music and the children heard and followed him. They were never seen again.

The Pied Piper is playing his music. He’s smooth talking and entertaining. When you make a deal with him, he will destroy you. Satan will destroy you unless you WAKE UP!!!
