Not every gift we get is good, but James said ‘every good and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father.’
Sometimes, people give gifts according to their emotions or feelings of the moment, but God gives according to His promise and His principle. If you obey what He asks you to do, you can receive that gift. It doesn’t matter what your financial status is, your color of skin, how pretty you are, or how smart you are.
For a sundial, there is no shadow at high noon. With God, there is no shadow of turning. His promises are the same. He is not subjective, but objective. He has no variableness.
Gifts we receive in the natural will eventually break or be no longer useful. Gifts from above, however, will benefit us for all eternity.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:13 “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”
Jesus came from above. He came to give. God saw the condition of us and sent down His gift, in Jesus Christ. He was perfect and good.
As they beat Jesus and put Him on the cross, his blood began to flow. Satan thought he could destroy man and kill God’s plan completely. He didn’t understand that Jesus’ blood was the first that was without sin. Because Jesus lived without sin, His blood was perfect blood.
There were two thieves hanging on either side of Jesus. One began to mock Him. The other said, ‘Please remember me.’ Even on the cross, Jesus blood was able to cover and forgive sin.
There was a disease called diphtheria that would kill people. Eventually, scientists figured out that you could inject a horse and the horse would get very sick, almost to death, but then recover. When that blood was injected into a human, they were cured as well. Jesus’ blood ‘injected’ to our lives heals, forgives, delivers, and redeems!
Mat 7:7-11 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
If we need something, the Lord says, ‘If you will ask, you will receive.’ Whatever the need is, He has the answer. If we keep knocking, keep seeking, and keep asking, the Lord will give us good gifts, what we ask for, what we need.
Psalm 107:20 “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
It doesn’t matter what is trying to destroy you, He sent His Word and healed and delivered! But, we’ve got to ask, we’ve got to seek, we’ve got to knock.
God wants to minister to us. He wants to give to us. If we ask with faith and believe Him, He will do what we ask.
Acts 2:1-4 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
There came a sound from above because every good and perfect gift is from above.
God wants to pour out of His Spirit in this last day. Untold multitudes of people will be filled with His Spirit. If God did it then, He can do it today.
